These are the values that Martinez Street Women’s Center embodies and hopes for our community: love, equity, kindness, and acceptance. We teach non-violent communication, healthy relationships, and social justice to youth on the Eastside of San Antonio, providing them with the resources and tools they need to navigate what can be a difficult world. In addition, we bring mothers and daughters together, to empower and uplift one another through self care and wellness workshops. Though we find solace in our programs and each other this week, we also join millions of individuals around the nation, in wondering what the next four years will look like, and how our role in the community will evolve. We know the future may hold challenges, and oftentimes we may feel discouraged and disillusioned.  However, we are now more determined than ever, to ensure that the women and girls we serve live in a community that treats them with respect, dignity, and appreciation. As we determine what lies ahead, one thing is certain: our programs are more vital than ever… and today, we’re asking for your help to ensure their long-term sustainability.

We had planned to announce this campaign in a different way, but this week has led us to approach things a bit more simply and directly. As a nonprofit, we do not endorse any candidate, but we know this affects us and the people we serve. We can only look ahead with determination and a resolute belief in our neighbors, our community, and one another. Today, we are humbly asking for your support for our end of year campaign, which has a goal to raise $10,000 by December 31st to fuel the change we want to see in the world. Your donation not only affirms your commitment to our shared values, but also ensures that we have the resources necessary to pass them onto the next generation of leaders in our community. You can read more about what our goal is here, where you can make a tax deductible donation in an amount significant to you and your family. Now, more than ever, we need to start the year off strong, to achieve our mission of transforming communities through women and girls.

Thank you for your support this year and as we move forward. We are honored to serve this community together.

In solidarity and with appreciation,

Andy, Becca, Hannah, Mona, Caro, Jenee, Made, Luis, and Ernesto
